The Lord Is Close to the Brokenhearted

[Jesus] said: “If anyone would come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross and follow me. For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for me and for the gospel will save it. What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul? Or what can a man give in exchange for his soul? If anyone is ashamed of me and my words in this adulterous and sinful generation, the Son of Man will be ashamed of him when he comes in his Father’s glory with the holy angels.” [Mark 8:34-38]

The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a merchant looking for fine pearls. When he found one of great value, he went away and sold everything he had and bought it. [Matt13: 44-46]

The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth. [Psalm 145] The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. [Psalm 34:18] But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you look for him with all your heart and with all your soul. [Deut 4:29] For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you,” declares the Lord,  and will bring you back from captivity.  [Jeremiah 29: 11-14]
[Jesus said] whoever comes to me I will never drive away. [John 6:37]
