Steve Jobs on Death

“Having lived through it, I can now say this to you with a bit more certainty than when death was a useful but purely intellectual concept: No one wants to die. Even people who want to go to heaven don’t want to die to get there. And yet death is the destination we all share. No one has ever escaped it. And that is as it should be, because Death is very likely the single best invention of Life. It is Life’s change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.” [Steve Jobs' Commencement Speech at Stanford, 12 June 2005.]

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven: a time to be born and a time to die …He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the hearts of men; yet they cannot fathom what God has done from beginning to end. [Ecclesiastes 3:1-2,11]

Since the children have flesh and blood, [Jesus] too shared in their humanity so that by his death he might destroy him who holds the power of death—that is, the devil— and free those who all their lives were held in slavery by their fear of death. [Hebrews 2: 14-15]

Jesus said:

I am the Living One; I was dead, and behold I am alive for ever and ever! And I hold the keys of death and Hades. [Revelation 1:18]

I am the Way and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me… In him was life, and that life was the light of men. [John 14:6; 1:4]

I am the Resurrection and the Life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies. [John 11:25]

For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. [John 3:16]
