Dearest all EKHC partners and friends,
RE: Our dearest Brother Yacob Aga Ollie: The EKHC global missionary to South Sudan, esteemed member of Kera KHC in Wolayita region has served in the EKHC global mission field since March 2006 to October 2010.
With much sadness, we received the news of the falling asleep in Christ of our beloved brother, Yacob Aga Ollie (3/8/72—10/25/2010) who fell ill with cerebral malaria on October 24 and was promoted to heaven on 25 October 2010.
Death in human experience has never been easy, whether it comes in youth or in old age, whether it comes suddenly or after a long illness, it always leaves in its wake sorrow, tears, loneliness and longing. But our Lord, who has conquered death by his own death, proved to us that beyond Calvary, there is the empty tomb and all of us, if we live the way Brother Yacob Aga Ollie the EKHC missionary lived, will be with Christ in His heavenly kingdom.
During the past four and half years, Yacob proved himself to be the “good shepherd and discipler of the UPG living at Thiangrial, Atar and Yabus rural villages close to White Nile of South Sudan in partnership with SIM Sudan. Through his hard work and the five churches he planted and many people he discipled; he shall always be remembered as one of the great full time committed up to sacrifice global missionary of Ethiopian Kale Heywet church. On behalf of the EKHC missions and church growth department team, we convey to our partners; his immediate family and to all the evangelicals at large our deepest sympathy. May the soul of our beloved brother global missionary, Yacob Aga Ollie rest in peace till the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ who is victorious over death. "As it is written, for thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord." (Rom.8:36-39, KJV). EKHC'S desire is to send ten fold more missionaries to South Sudan and beyond in accordance with our Strategic direction to do evangelism and missions as our first priority. Your prayers are highly appreciated. Please read the update and obituary from the SIM Sud an Communications and the final report from SIM Sudan director Brother Chris Crowder. Looking forward to hearing from you and With gratitude for your partnership.

The Lord used his people to care for Yacob’s wife, Tibarek when she arrived in Nairobi with the body of her husband. They met her at the airport, accompanied her to the mortuary twice, sat with her for hours and then to Jomo Kenyatta airport at 3 pm, October 27. Tibarek Wondemu, Tohru Inoue, SIM Sudan deputy director, and the coffin arrived at 8 pm in Addis Ababa and were received by church leaders. On October 28 the Ethiopian Kale Heywot held a memorial in the capital city of Ethiopia and the churches, community leaders and missionaries did the same in Yabus, South Sudan where Yacob Aga was struck down by cerebral malaria. The body is now in Jacob’s home area and the funeral will take place at noon in Soddu, October 29, followed by the burial.
OBITUARY
Yacob Aga Ollie (3/8/72-10/25/2010) is now in the presence of the Lord. Yacob and his wife, Tibarek arrived as newlyweds and have served the people of Sudan in Thiangrial, Atar and Yabus over the last 4 years. They were some of the first missionaries sent by the Ethiopian Kale Heywot Church to Sudan. Yacob was part of the development team initiating Basic Education Learning Centers in the first two locations. The Lord blessed as they saw people respond to the gospel, start churches and people grow in their faith. Some were their adult students who completed a grade 8 education under them. Yacob has been sharing his talents at the Yabus Sudan Interior Church Secondary School for about the last 6 months. He fell ill with cerebral malaria on October 24 and was promoted to heaven on October 25, 2010. This couple have handled extreme and life threatening incidents in Sudan. Twice inter-ethnic warfare forced their evacuation. They have been protected and cared for by local Sudanese, but also caught in full-pitched battles where they hid in unlikely places like a latrine. They have been shot at, lost their belongings as their home was burnt to the ground, and disappointed when the attack closed the new teacher training school SIM had initiated. But God saved and sustained them. They and the Ethiopian Kale Heywot kept a clear focus on their commitment to Sudanese people.
Yacob is survived by his loving wife, Tibarek Wondemu who followed her husband into harm’s way. She has returned to Ethiopia with Yacob’s body for the funeral in his home area October 28. On October 27 there were also memorial services held in Addis Ababa and Yabus, Sudan.
Jesus’ urgent command to us is to make disciples. Yacob was busy making disciples when the Lord took him. As we mourn his passing, we are energized and galvanized to continue making disciples in Sudan as our Savior commanded. We will miss Yacob and Tibarek but thank God for their lives.
THE FINAL REPORT BY SIM SUDAN DIRECTOR :-
Greetings from Nairobi. I am sending you some wonderful and God-honoring details I wrote down as brother Tohru (the SIM Sudan D/director) gave his testimony at our prayer time on Monday. Each of these little miracles represents the gracious hand of our Lord’s care. Because you have a good email distribution list, I wonder if you would like to send this out to encourage everyone? I have copied as many people as might be blessed by this list. Also, I do not have Dr. Negatu’s contact information. Also, I will have a small opportunity to speak at the Ethiopian Fellowship church in Nairobi this Sunday 7 November to thank that body of Christ for their help and their love. For that occasion, we have created a slide presentation of Yacob and Tibarek’s ministry. If I manage to upload to the internet I will send out a link.
Yacob Miracles
1. An AIM flight was in the air when he passed away
